Sea otters were once common in the Oregon coast but were hunted to extinction more than a century ago.  Learn about the history of sea otters in Oregon, their ecological and cultural importance, their disappearance, and the prospects for their return and recovery. Presenter:  Robert Bailey, Board President, Elakha Alliance & retired manager of the Oregon Coastal Management Program. The Elakha Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and conservation of sea otters and the health of Oregon’s nearshore marine ecosystem.
