NATURE TALK: "ALPS ADVENTURE"

Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and the Eiger—in just two weeks! The Straub Environmental Center will be hosting local Chemeketan Club mountain climbers—Scott Phillips, Jate Rademaker and Aislinn Adams—as they share their July 2016 adventure story  of their attempt to climb these three, legendary peaks in the European Alps. Join us to hear this inspiring story. 

About the Speakers: 

Scott Phillips is originally from Oregon and started climbing with the Chemeketans in 2001, where he has been an active climb leader for many years. Apart from being an alpinist, Scott is also known for "Big Wall" climbing and has successfully climbed many of Yosemite's big wall rock routes. Scott currently works as a Laboratory Manager at AkzoNobel in Salem, OR. 

Jate Rademaker is originally from Carmel, Indiana, but has lived in Oregon since 2007. He graduated from the Chemeketan climb school in 2010 and has been climbing ever since. Jate works at Toyota Motors North American as a District Service and Parts Manager. 

Aislinn Adams is originally from Ireland, but has been living in Salem, OR since 2000. She started climbing in the eighties in Ireland and Scotland. She has been climbing with the Chemeketans since 2009 and is an assistant climb leader. Aislinn works as a Botanical Artist and a part-time environmental education teacher at the Oregon Gardens.
