NATURE TALK: ILLAHE-KEMTEKS—WEAVING NORTHWEST PLANTS & CULTURES

  • Eco Hub at the Willamette Heritage Center 1313 Mill Street Southeast Salem, OR, 97301 United States (map)

Join Grand Ronde tribal member and traditional basket weaver Stephanie Craig as she presents the complex story of Western Oregon tribes. From the era of removal from traditional lands to the cultural revitalization of today, Craig traces the resiliency of Native people and cultures through traditional basket making using native plants. As a member of several regional indigenous tribes, Craig is passionate about her responsibility to educate and document cultural heritage and traditions.

This presentation is a partnership with the Willamette Valley Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Oregon. This is a “special edition” Nature Talk; upcoming Nature Talks will take place on the third Thursdays of each month November – May.
