NATURE COLLAGE WORKSHOP FOR YOUTHS: THE ART OF PRESSED BOTANICALS

  • Eco Hub @ Willamette Heritage Center 1313 Mill Street Southeast Salem, OR, 97301 United States (map)

Join artist and teacher Marnie Jeffers and learn how to combine acrylic paint, natural materials and collage papers to create a unique, layered work of art. We will start with a small wooden panel, embellishing it with painted areas and then collage papers, adding a final layer of pressed botanicals. Open to ages 11-13, the workshop will take place at the Eco Hub on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 10:00 am-1:00 pm.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Marnie remembers her first work of art. It was a “fairy playground” of tar and sticks, created at the age of three. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Visual Art from Auburn University, with minors in Art and Education. Primarily a painter, Marnie still glues things together for collage and assemblage, and makes hand-built ceramic pieces. She is happiest when painting outdoors and her work focuses on sharing her delight in the natural world.

This workshop is presented by the David Douglas Society in partnership with the Straub Environmental Center. For more information, visit www.DavidDouglasSociety.org or www.StraubCenter.org.
