At Straub Outdoors, we provide nature-based education for students and families throughout Western Oregon.
Our Mission
Straub Outdoors is a nonprofit organization offering nature-based educational programs that increase science literacy, promote sustainable approaches to daily life, create an understanding of the natural world, and inspire ecological stewardship.
Our programs take place at state parks and other awe-inspiring natural areas throughout Western Oregon.
Our Classroom is the Great Outdoors!
We offer opportunities to learn about nature . . . in nature! Our field instructors help kids foster emotional connections to the natural world first and then intellectual-academic connections through guided multi-sensory explorations that meet Next Generation Science Standards (and are a lot of fun).

Our programs take place at more than 30 scenic natural areas across Western Oregon, from the Cascade Foothills to the Oregon Coast.

Years Serving communities
Founded in 2002, Straub Outdoors is a nonprofit organization that has served children in our regional communities for more than two decades.
1,600
YOUTH participants
Last year, more than 1,600 children ages 6-13 years participated in our outdoor school and summer camp programs.
We Serve Our Community!
Straub Outdoors provides place-based science programs for students entering or in Grades 1-8, including day camps, field trips, and outdoor school, as well as service-learning projects and internships for high school and college students. We honor the voices, traditions, and priorities of Indigenous and immigrant people living in this special place now known as Oregon.
